Wema Bukembe Development Organization
Today we covered the last module of the environment sessions, and today’s topic was titled- Future is now. We can imagine a future that will have reduced the carbon emissions to the extent where the global temperature rise will be below 1.5 degree Celsius. We have to rearrange our priorities to live a simpler life and consume less of the natural resources while doing our part in the community to plant trees and get involved in mobilizing volunteers who will be the catalysts for change. But we need to remember to be good citizens.
Richard Haas in his new book, The Bill of Obligations mentions the Ten Habits of Good citizens. These are:
Be informed.
Get Involved.
Stay open to compromise.
Remain civil and reject violence.
Value our traditions and culture.
Promote the common good.
Be ethical and follow dharma.
Support the teaching of civics (treat thy neighbor as thyself). Put country first.
