Wema Bukembe Development Organization

My name is Ms. Lewinsky Imuhira Mariam, am 24 years old and a beneficiary of the Wema Centre. I come from a family of four children and am the first-born.
After the 2007 post-election violence, my family was severely affected and in 2009, we relocated to Bungoma County where I was enrolled at Lotus of Highway. Unfortunately, my parents could not afford to fund my education and the school helped me by enrolling me to the Wema program. Little did I know that Wema was the beginning of actualizing my dream of being a lawyer.
I did well in my KCPE examinations and was enrolled to Lugulu Girls High school. Wema paid all my high school fees in full. I did well in my KCSE and qualified for Bachelors of Law at Kabarak University.
Wema walked with me through my university journey. I remember having lost hope on whether I would join my university and whether I would pursue law. However, Mother Teresa held my hand in ensuring that I would be supported to the very end of my journey at the University. I vividly remember, Madam Teresa calling me on phone and liaising to pay my school fees at the Equity Bank in Bungoma and even helping me with money for shopping. I did not have a smart phone with me at that time but she encouraged me to work hard in school. In addition, she was the one who had advised me to apply to Kabarak University to study law. I enrolled at Kabarak University with fully paid school fees and Wema centre helped me clear my fees even at the end of my four years in Kabarak University.
I graduated with a Second Class Upper Division, faculty of law class of 2022 Kabarak University. I was super excited during my graduation, that my dream had come true and finally I am a Lawyer. I look forward to pursue further studies but currently am an intern at a law firm based in Nairobi. Wema planted within me a seed of helping others and I purpose to give back to the community.
Am so grateful to Wema, thank you for helping me actualize my dream.
